Kaweah River—5:45 hour drive (330 miles) from San Diego

The Kaweah River is located near spectacular Sequoia National Park, with its ancient redwood groves, impressive Kings Canyon, and Mineral King Park. This 9-mile section of the Kaweah River offers almost non-stop class IV whitewater rafting action.

Whitewater rafting on the Kaweah River is for our most aggressive river rafting clients with prior class III experience, in good physical condition, and with strong swimming abilities. Wet suits are required through mid-May.

Merced River— 7:00 hour drive (420 miles) from San Diego

Tumbling from the spectacular Yosemite Valley, the Merced River beckons the whitewater rafting enthusiast each spring, while its continuous rapids challenges even the veteran rafters who dare to experience Yosemite white water rafting. Our starting point for our Merced River whitewater rafting adventure is just minutes from the entrance to Yosemite National Park.

A whitewater rafting trip down the Merced River is an excellent option for people on vacation visiting Yosemite National Park and looking for a river rafting adventure. Early in the season the Merced River is a Class IV whitewater rafting run, while later in the season it become a class III white water rafting run. Wetsuits may be required.

Middle Fork American—9:00 hours (547 miles) from San Diego

American River Recreation is one of the original outfitters on the Middle Fork American River since 1979. We are American River whitewater rafting specialists, and have the most experienced and knowledgeable white water rafting guides on the river.

The Middle Fork American River cascades through one of the deepest and most remote canyons in the mid-Sierra. This float on the American River offers the entire spectrum of river adventure. The pace of this 18-mile American River white water rafting journey alternates between exciting class III-IV rapids and mild class I-II stretches.
