TRIP DETAILS

This two-day, class III South Fork American River trip combines the thrill of whitewater rafting with breathtaking scenery—and the fun and relaxation of our private river camp at nightfall. This two-day, class III South Fork American River rafting adventure starts in Coloma.

The adventure begins right at our river camp launching point. Here you will meet your guides, receive the safety talk and paddling instructions before the journey begins. Over the two day adventure you will experience such rapids as; Meatgrinder, Maya, Triple Threat, African Queen, Trouble Maker, Fowler’s Rock, Satan’s Cesspool, Bouncing Rock and Hospital Bar. We serve a delicious lunch buffet each day.

On day one, we will start the day together with a lovely breakfast before your first day of rafting down the famous Gorge section. Half-way down, we’ll stop for a delicious deli-style lunch, then raft onward to Folsom Lake. Following refreshments, we will board the shuttle for a short, scenic ride back to our private American River front camp. You will have an opportunity to set up your overnight gear. As the chef starts cooking our big, country-style BBQ dinner, we invite you to fish, play volleyball, toss horse shoes, take a hot shower, or just relax and enjoy a cold beverage along with scrumptious appetizers. After a tasty dessert, enjoy the rest of your evening swapping stories around a glowing campfire.

The following morning, we’ll share a hearty breakfast and board the bus up river to Chili Bar. You will raft the mighty Chili Bar section down to our camp where lunch will be served. This 21-mile long journey ends after lunch at approximately 1:00 PM. Please be aware that a variety of factors may cause a trip to end earlier or later than planned. Take this into consideration when making your travel plans. After lunch, you can relax or walk to the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park to explore the site of Sutter’s Mill, before you get ready to head home.
