TRIP DETAILS

Starting at Oxbow Dam, at the bottom of a 2,000 foot canyon in the Sierra Nevadas, this rafting trip offers guests an exhilarating river experience through world class rapids and gorgeous scenery all the way down the Middle Fork of the American River. You will raft the entire 18 miles of the Middle Fork American white water rafting trip in a single day with a stop half way for a delicious deli-style lunch. After an evening in at the best campground on the American River you will enjoy the non-stop thrills of the Chili Bar section on the South Fork of the American River. This Middle and South Fork trip is the perfect mix of thrills and relaxation and you will love the double dose of fun.

The adventure begins with your first night of camping and a delicious hot breakfast before a scenic shuttle ride to our launching point of the Middle Fork. Here you will meet your guides, receive the safety talk and paddling instructions before the journey begins. Get ready during the first 2.5 miles of the river for the most intense rapid of the trip, the Tunnel Chute. This exhilarating rapid is sure to thrill even the most experienced whitewater enthusiast. Throughout the trip we alternate between big rapids and calm stretches. We serve a delicious deli-style lunch buffet halfway through the day. In the late afternoon we do a mandatory portage around Ruck-A-Chucky Falls, an unrunnable 20-foot drop through a boulder sieve. Several more exciting rapids will thrill you as you continue to the take-out. Enjoy the scenic shuttle to the American River Resort where you can set-up camp for the night. The Resort style camp is located at the biggest rapid on the South Fork, Troublemaker – which you will raft down the following day! At camp you will enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by our camp chef followed by a relaxing bonfire at your campsite before settling in for the night under a thousand stars. The following morning after digging into a hearty breakfast you will jump onto the shuttle for a 20 min ride to the top of the South Fork at Chili Bar. Once on the river the action is non-stop through the Surf Rapids, Meatgrinder, Maya culminating with a biggest of all – Troublemaker! Enjoy a refreshing shower and a yummy lunch before breaking down camp and heading home. This trip will definately leave you with memories of a thrilling and relaxing time on and off the river.
